Wooden Slabs
This burl is one-of-a-kind. We treat all these reclaimed treasures with the utmost care. Much of our inventory is 10 years old so that artisans can create masterpieces knowing the product’s stability.
Our Massive Wooden Slabs are extraordinarily rare because they come from trees that are indigenous to the East Coast. They are uncommonly beautiful with figuring such as “curly”, “birds-eye,” “spalted” and “wormy” in various pieces. Plus, they are “Green-Friendly” because when possible they are recovered from trees that fell on their own accord or were damaged. It is regrettable to us when any forest giant falls. Loggers, shrubbery or nurserymen, and tree surgeons know that we look for exotic and unusual growths they may encounter in their work. These burls or gnarly, distressed limbs are generally chipped or discarded. We relish them.
Some of our logs do come from the normal timber industry harvest. These are generally limited to oversized logs difficult for a conventional mill to saw. Our intent is to save them from being cut into small dimensional lumber so they can be appreciated in some grander context for future generations. These fine pieces make amazing tables for conference rooms and grand dining halls, counter tops for bar areas and kitchens and desk tops in offices. Bark-intact or live edge mantels make a bold statement and add character to a fireplace. Round burls make beautiful table tops or interesting room dividers.
