Poplar Bark Shingle Siding

The Original, Bark House® Poplar Bark Shingle Siding adorns and protects the finest homes, lodges, and commercial buildings across every region of the United States and Internationally. Our reclaimed tree bark is maintenance-free and regeneratively manufactured. The ridges and valleys of this unique material create interesting shadow lines. The taupe-grey color is accented by occasional green moss and lichens. Bark House is the only brand with 100% of material grading and manufacturing always done in-house.

Poplar Bark Panel Wall Coverings

Bark House® Poplar Bark Panel Wall Finishes are the most distinctive and luxurious of our poplar bark wall coverings. Incredibly, each is a single, large sheet of bark from one tree. No more than one in a thousand trees will yield an uncracked sheet of bark this large. Due to limb scars, epicormic knots, growth stress, bird peck, and lightning scars, no two poplar bark panels are ever alike.

White Birch Wall Coverings

Bark House® White Birch Wall Panels are made from luxuriously large sheets of natural bark attached to an exterior grade substrate. The panels are meticulously handcrafted with attention to every detail by an experienced team of in-house artisans. We select the whitest sheets of raw bark to craft our panels from. With their distinctive black-grey lenticels, our panels adorn the exteriors of the finest homes, lodges, and retail spaces.

Original Products That Are Beautiful And Lasting

Bark House is the original design manufacturer of bark wall finishes and the only company that has always performed 100% of grading and manufacturing in-house.  Designers benefit from products that perform as intended, and last.  You receive all the benefits of product innovation through an organized system that is the standard in quality. Our process begins with reclaiming a waste product of the forest industry.  Like wood, bark has a complex structure.  Unlike wood, there are no national grading methods and only Bark House has proven proprietary standards.

Material selection, drying in kilns specifically designed for this material, and squaring are delivered by an expert team, trained properly in these important steps to ensure product longevity.

Bark grading starts the Process

Standards for thicknesses and acceptable material characteristics were established at Bark House by co-founder Marty McCurry.  With educational preparation in Chemical Engineering and Pulp-and-Paper from NC State University and focused research McCurry understands the patterns in the surface that reveal the material’s structure.  Only our craftsmen receive proprietary training in the standards that dictate the material that is accepted at our Intake Yard.  Clients benefit because Bark House® products last longer, function as they were designed, and yield beautiful results.

Bark siding is Timeless

Nothing blends with nature or grounds a project to its site in a timeless manner like bark.  Our team has years of experience and has worked with a myriad of designers on projects across the globe. We will always direct you to the simplest and most cost-effective solution to fit your application.

Bark wall finishes are Sustainable

Poplar Bark Wall Finishes are the world’s first product category to have achieved a Cradle to Cradle® Platinum Level Certification (2017 – 2018) Gold (2007 – 2017).  The certification is holistic and rigorous in scope with third-party verification of material health, material reutilization, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness.

By using a wall finish that is eco-friendly, handcrafted, and beautiful, architects can elevate interiors to a level that surpasses current sustainability standards, transcends client expectations, and provides a peek into the next generation of modern design.
