What am I paying for in a Bark House sample?
Bark House samples are not discards, cut-offs, or scrap. Every product is hand-crafted to custom specifications, so there is no waste. Samples are made by our artisans just like full-sized products.
Bark is an a-typical material and there is a finite harvest that occurs over a few months and only once a year. The demand for our products means that we sell out of inventory every year. Over ninety percent of our clients are professionals specifying the Bark House product for client projects. There is so much demand for samples that, unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests for free samples.
We welcome you to learn about the company’s regeneratively aimed mission to restore Appalachian forests and how a finite harvest is an investment in protecting forests. We encourage you to review the important certifications and awards that we’ve earned through our product innovations over thirty years in business to know what your purchase is supporting.
How does a finish affect the bark material?
Bark is a porous material like wood. Like the differing patterns of wood grain, the porosity of bark occurs in different degrees and differing patterns. When finishes are applied to the material, the inherent color underneath will be amplified, and the degree of saturation in each area across the face of the bark will vary. Therefore, the finish on your Bark House sample (a unique piece) is not guaranteed to match 100% to the finish on your larger bark wall covering (of which no two are exactly alike). Our finished samples and wall coverings are sprayed consistently over the face of the material. If your project has an allowance for slight variations then, our finishers are highly experienced and glad to be of service.
What is in a Sample Kit?
Our Sample Kits are fully customizable: you choose the product and finish that best fits your project! You may order in any quantity that you need. Of course, we are always available to help you with any questions that you might have.
Can I purchase more than one sample?
If you would like more than one of any sample, please enter that in the gray Quantity field before clicking Add to Cart. The amount of your order will appear at the top of the page as well as at the bottom where there is a running list of what you’ve ordered, including the shipping costs.
