University of Chicago Project Wins USGBC Award with Bark House® Product

“The University of Chicago loves the Bark House® wall coverings. The University Architect, the Associate Provost, all love it. Everyone does. It won a local USGBC Emerald Award last week and the University Architect mentioned it prominently in his acceptance speech.

Most comments refer to the idea that it embodies nature in a much less processed way than you usually see. This is the overwhelming thing people react to, but there are so many
nuanced benefits to this product to appreciate.

Bark House was top notch to work with and I would not hesitate recommending this company for product, service and meeting timelines. The lamination you did to a cement board allowed
the product to pass rigorous fire code inspection for exterior use.

We’ve considered it for other projects since. I am sure we’ll be back with another project soon.”

“UChicago Child Development Center – Stony Island will be recognized with a Green Building Innovation award. The Center beautifully immerses the children with the natural world providing exciting opportunities for discovery and sensory development while emphasizing the natural landscape over the built one.”
